Uniformed services tutor Marek Piontkowski studied for six years with Derby College Group before joining Broomfield Hall鈥檚 teaching staff.

Now 25, he originally enrolled on the Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Uniformed Protective Services as at that time he wanted to be a police officer.

After completing the level 3, he took the Foundation Degree Criminal Justice (Security and Offender Management) (FdSc) followed by the BA (Hons) Security and Offender Management (Top Up Degree).

He said: 鈥淏y the time I鈥檇 completed my degree I鈥檇 changed my mind about joining the police and decided I鈥檇 like to go into teaching, so I enrolled on a two-year PGCE course at the Roundhouse.

鈥淭hinking back to my time as a uniformed services student, I really enjoyed the fitness training side and leadership elements.

鈥淭he courses prepare students well for a life in the public and uniformed services.鈥

After graduating Marek was offered sessional work at Broomfield and now teaches entry level learners as well as tutoring more advanced students.

As a teacher, he enjoys the variety of his job, teaching students on level one and level two as well as being a level three tutor.

Marek added: 鈥淓very day brings its own challenges 鈥 this job is never repetitive like some jobs I鈥檝e done in the past.

鈥淚 see my main role as encouraging the students and guiding them to do their best so they can complete the course. My main role is to just help them get through it.鈥

Thinking back to my time as a uniformed services student, I really enjoyed the fitness training side and leadership elements.
